Which photograph suits the ceramic plaque
Most often, a family has just one suitable photograph and worries it isn't good enough. In practice, things are better than they seem: what matters is the clarity of the face, not the age of the photo or the condition of the paper.
What matters most
- The face should be clear, with visible features — the eyes, the outline of the face, the expression.
- The face shouldn't be too small in the frame. If the person appears from a distance, details are lost when enlarged.
- The lighting should be natural, without harsh shadows hiding half the face.
- The gaze, preferably, toward the camera or slightly to the side — this fits most naturally into an oval.
What isn't a problem
Scratches, yellowing, torn corners, damp stains — all of these can be fixed. The same goes for a distracting background, other people in the frame, or a full-length photo, from which we keep only the upper body. Restoration and cropping are included in the price.
Black and white isn't a problem either. If you wish, we colourise the photograph with natural tones, again at no extra cost.
How to send the photograph
It's best to upload the original file directly from your phone or computer, not a screenshot and not a photo that was already sent through messenger, which has already been compressed. If you only have a paper photograph, photograph it with your phone, laid on a table, in daylight, without flash and without your shadow falling over it. Hold the phone parallel to the photo, not at an angle.
What we do with it
Before firing, we run every photograph through the same steps: we clean marks and scratches, balance the light and contrast, gently sharpen the features without changing them, and crop it to the chosen shape. If needed, we colourise it. Then we send you a preview — nothing goes into firing before you confirm.
When we'll write to you
If the file you send can't support the ordered size, we'll let you know and suggest an alternative: either a smaller size, where the image stays clear, or using another photograph, if you have one. We'd rather ask than deliver a blurry photo on the stone.
Don't worry if the photo is old or damaged. In almost every case we can work with it. Send it to us and we'll tell you honestly what will come of it.

What resolution should the photograph have?
There's no fixed threshold — what matters is how large and clear the face appears in the frame. A phone photo taken up close is often better than an old one enlarged excessively.
I only have a group photo. Can it be used?
Yes. We crop out the person and rebuild the background. Cropping is included in the price.
The photograph is torn and stained. Is it still worth using?
Yes. Restoration is part of the work and is included. We look at the file and tell you what can be recovered.
Do I see the result before it's made?
Yes. We send you a preview, and firing only starts once you confirm it.
