For the home, not for the grave

This is the first thing worth clarifying, because many people search for a "funeral portrait" and land on something completely different. The portrait described here is meant for indoor use: the frame is wood and the image is printed on photographic paper. It is not fitted to a cross or placed on a headstone — wood swells in the rain, and paper fades within a few months of sunlight.

For the monument itself there is a different product: ceramic photo plaques, where the image is fired into the surface at high temperature and withstands the weather for decades. Many families order both — the ceramic plaque for the grave and the framed portrait for the home — starting from the same photograph, processed only once.

Why 21x30 cm

This is the size at which a face is clearly recognisable from a few steps away — exactly what's needed during the service, when the portrait is held or placed beside the coffin. A smaller format gets lost in the space of a church; a larger one becomes awkward to carry and hard to place on an ordinary shelf.

After the service, the portrait remains useful. It is placed on the table for memorial meals, and in between it sits on a wall or a dresser. At 21x30 cm it doesn't dominate a room or demand a special spot — it fits wherever feels natural.

The natural wood frame

The frame is left in its natural wood tone, with no paint and no coloured finish. We chose it because it doesn't draw attention to itself and suits any furniture, regardless of shade — something that matters when the portrait is going to stay in the same room for years. It arrives ready to hang or to stand, with nothing left for you to assemble.

Photo processing is included

As with all our products, processing isn't charged separately: we restore old, torn or yellowed photographs, colourise black-and-white images, retouch the face and crop a single person out of a group photo. Before we produce anything, you receive a preview and can request changes — nothing is printed until you confirm it looks right.

If the only photograph you have is a damaged one, that's the usual case, not the exception.

What kind of photo the format can handle

At 21x30 cm, the clarity of the original matters. We can clean, balance and reconstruct missing areas, but we cannot add detail that simply isn't in the file: an ID photo enlarged tenfold is still an ID photo enlarged tenfold.

That's why we ask you to send us the file before ordering. We'll tell you honestly how it will look at this size, and if the original isn't strong enough, we'll suggest a tighter crop on the face — a clear head-and-shoulders portrait looks far more dignified than a blurry head-to-waist image.

Turnaround and delivery

The portrait is often needed in the first days, for the funeral service, when time is short. Production takes one working day after you confirm the preview; delivery takes 3–7 working days in Romania and 7–14 working days in the European Union, counted from that confirmation.
